The second Be Responsive MeetUp

Fellow Traffic employees; Steve Wells, Min Choi and Emilie Lokken attended the second Responsive Web Meetup on Monday 8 June 2013. A big thank you to The York Butter Factory for hosting the event. As last month, the turnout was impressive and the speakers, Ben Schwarz, Catherine Hills and Zendy Wongso, were very insightful and informative.

First speaker, Catherine Hills – Gesture & Click: A holistic view of UX approaches for multi-device strategy

As Senior User Experience Designer at Envato, Catherine’s presentation about what is important from a UX perspective in the world of Responsive Web Design was very informative. She had some interesting insights into user data, why responsive is so great and considerations of touch interaction vs. mouse interaction.

Second speaker, Ben Schwarz – A million media queries

Second up was the full stack web hacking, tool making, tip sharer, known as Ben Schwarz. He spoke about the cooperation between designer and developer and some of his recent projects that he managed to build entirely from CSS, avoiding all use of JavaScript. For a great example, check out Gallery.

Third speaker, Zendy Wongso – News flash / July

As Front End Developer at Interact Creative, Zendy delivered a lightning talk regarding updates and breaking news from the world of Responsive Web Design.
